i won a free cruise there to and flew into sharm el sheik last january. It really is a magical place but the thing the spoilt it for me was the smell it was horrendous!! The other thing was going to the pyramids and with it being a wonder of the world they really couln't give a monkies about it, it was knee deep in rubbish, the guards were the worst, ripping you off at every turn!! I would go back again as it really was an experience.

I have been to Egpy three times:
I didn't enjoy the resorts near the red sea (Shamr El Shake etc). They are concrete jungles with a big strip of hotels and loads of Europeans baking themselves in the sun. You never meet any Egyptions or experience any culture. If you just want sea and sand go to Dubai instead as everything is much better value - like 5* not 3* - and about the same price.
I loved a two week cruise on the Nile and visiting the ancient sites like the valley of the Kings and Karnack - one of the more enjoyable and best value holidays ever. I went with Kuoni. Cario is an amazing city for its museums and of course the pyramids.
I spent a week in Luxor and it is very relaxed and beautiful base. You can do a trip to Mount Sinai and see the sun rise. Good choice of accomodation and restaurants too.
All the Egyptions I met were really friendly, warm and generous people; especially if you learn a few phrases of Arabic before you go. Although like some Asian counteries you tend to see and meet men rather than women ( I went with my boyfriend). so I don't know what it would be like for a groups of women to go on their own. Food is really cheap and the fruit and veg fresh and tasty. I could easily go back for a month and visit the north; Alexandra area.

I visited about 10 years ago - Arrived by ship into Port Said and then endured a 4 hour coach/bus journey to Cairo. We were also escorted by the Egyptian Army/Police for the entire coach journey - not a comforting thought!! But all was soon forgotten when visiting the Pyramids & Sphinx, also saw King Tut in the museum of Cairo...Breathtaking!!!

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Egyptian heaven. We spent two fantastic and magical weeks in Luxor at a hotel right next to the Nile.
We visited the valleys of the kings, queens and nobles, visited Karnac 3 times, and generally had the most awesome and relaxing holiday ever.
