Tomorrow, I have an interview at the local animal shelter and I was just wondering what kinds of questions do you think I'll be asked?

The interview is for employment.

Probably the same as other jobs, where you've worked before, have you worked for a shelter or with animals before. Do you have any allergies to cats, dogs, rabbits.

Usually an animal shelter is dying for volunteers so if you're willing to get there on time and take care of the feeding and cleaning up after the animals, then you're pretty much "hired".

Good luck.

An interview for what - employment, to volunteer, to adopt?

You'll likely get the typical questions about job history and/or education. You will probably also be asked about your experience with animals, depending on the position you are seeking. As others have said, don't be surprised if they ask you about euthanasia, whether they euthanize or not. They may ask about your own pets to make sure that you are a responsible pet owner and a good example for adopters. You will probably be asked why you want to work at a shelter or why you want this job. Liking animals is fine, but that's what everyone will say - very few shelter employees hate dogs and cats! Go a bit deeper; there must be something beyond liking animals that has you interested in this job. If that truly is the only reason, this may not be the job for you. Shelter work is hard and poor-paying and you have to really be dedicated to it.

Good luck!

Well, when I went to interview at the humane society I was asked all sorts of questions. They might ask questions to see what your personality is and your experience in working with animals. They also might ask you how you feel about euthanasia of animals too. Just be honest, positive and up-beat and answer the questions as best as you can. Take your time and think things through when they ask you questions. Don't jump into the answer. When you meet the person who is going to interview you. Smile, shake the persons hand. They like that! When you are sitting in the chair. Don't cross your legs or arms, that is slouching and they don't like that either. Keep direct eye contact with the interviewer as well. They are looking for things like that and if you do any of the things it might not land you the job. I think you will be fine and wish you very much luck with your interview tomorrow. I hope this helps!

Where do you see yourself five years from now and what is your goal in life is always a question they ask. Why are you leaving your last employer. They will check your past employment and if you do not have any background in animal care they will also ask why you are changing careers, what are your hobbies, do you have reliable transportation to get to work, do you have any problems working overtime if asked. How would you handle a certain situation - and they will pose a situation. Just be calm and relaxed and you will do fine.

If no experience is required for the job, I would imagine they would just ask you general employment questions. Expect questions on how you feel about animals, too. They want an employee who cares about what they do and cares about the animals. What they don't want is someone who will want to do "extra" things for the animals. They do not have the funding for that.

Well, they probably want to know if you have any experience with animals and how you get along with people too.
That kind of work is very strenous physically, so they will want to know that you are physically fit.
A Kennel worker can't get "grossed out" easily, you should be able to clean up after the dogs...matter of factly.

well they'll probably ask you how much do you love and care for the animals. ask if you think you'll work there for a while, or , and, animal related questions. Ask what type of experience you have.

They will (or should) ask you if you have pets
If you have ever surrendered or given a pet away
If your pets are spayed/neutered
If your pets are current on all vaccines
How you feel about euthanisia
If you are willing to work nights and weekends and holidays - because you will be!
It's a hard job but greatly rewarding!
