Christians and other relevant God-believers: given that your god will forgive all the bad things you do, why wouldn't you live life however you want and commit crimes and all that? What keeps you from sinning and just repenting?

As a Christian, I believe that God will forgive me from any sin, as long as I ask. He's always willing to forgive, but I believe that if you think "Hmmm I'm gonna go steal something, but its okay, cause God will forgive me", your purposfully taking advantage of God's grace. That said, I think you'll have to come to him with a heart thats truly sorry for what you've done. And when I live a moral life, (even though I could sin and screw up all the time and then just have God forgive me) I feel better.

There is sincerity clause in fine print at the bottom of the contract. j/k
Seriously speaking, this is a christian / catholic or western point of view. If one chooses to accept a certain faith or religion and all the ideals that come with it, one must first research the origins and history of it first. A similar question was proposed in the 1400's by Martin Luther and what resulted is known today a the Protestant Reformation. The difference is that back then people just paid the Church and you could buy your way into heaven. Scandalous!!!
Without sounding like the Anti-Christ, I believe that western faith has been misconceived, misunderstood, misguided, and sadly used to abuse the general public. My statements are in no way directed towards Jesus Christ. My statements are directed at the Church. The largest landlord on this planet. The church that converted all the native savages, accept Christ or die. The Church who has child molesters for priests. In conclusion, if you choose to live through western eyes then live by the words of Jesus Christ and not the Church.

Well, because if you just keep doing it over and over again - are you really sorry? No. You just think you can say your sorry and get out of the corner.

Just because Christians believe God forgives doesn't mean they have a free liscense to sin.

The biggest motivation of all. When I get to heaven and face my Father, I want to hear Him say "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." I don't want to face my Fathers disappointment in me for not living my life for Him. To truly repent means to not want to do the same thing again. To ask for true forgiveness you must be truly sorry. I think God can figure out who is really asking because they are sorry and who is asking just so they can do it again and not feel so bad about it. I don't believe you get forgivneness unless you are sincere about it.

repent: to feel sorrow or regret for one's past sin and to CHANGE one's ways. it's not repentance if you don't change.

also, that would be living in carnality, which leads to backsliding (losing your salvation). also, too much of this is what makes you like "salt that loses its saltiness", that is of little or no use.

also, we commanded to live Holy, not use our forgiveness as an occasion to the flesh, and do you honestly think abusing a privilige is a good idea?

God says he will punish us for our sins. It's not as simple as "we ask for forgiveness and it's forgotten". We have to be truly sorry and ask for forgiveness, but we will be punished.
For example--a child takes a cookie from the cookie jar right after their parent tells them not to. Their parent sees them, and the parent will forgive them if the child is truly sorry--but most likely the child will be punished in one way or another.
I hope this helps clears up your confusion.

Your real father here on earth would forgive you if you screwed up but that doesn't mean that you intentionally screw up in front of him. Believing in God is not enough. When you love God you don't want to dishonor him.

Your thinking is way way too shallow even for Yahoo

Jesus Christ loved us enough to give His life for us, to be abused physically, to be ridiculed and disrespected, and to endure pain that none of us has ever had to endure. All of us will do bad things. Each time we do a bad thing to others, we hurt and disappoint Jesus Christ, who gave everything for us. I believe I owe something to Him, and that is to try to live my life the best I can without hurting others. Why should I take advantage of someone who is willing to give me His all, just because I know he loves me enough to forgive me? Why shouldn't I love Him enough to try to please Him? What better life is there than that?

because when God's Spirit enters in Love enters in, so I would not want to steal or hurt anyone because I love them.
And when you get saved you become a new creation old things pass away, you walk in newness of life, the bible say's "live a life worthy of your repentance"
God did not "save us to sin" he "saved us from sin"
