I'm writng a story and I need some facts. What kind of disease can affect a young boy of about 15 which requires an expensive surgery and no transplants? It must not also be caused by drugs or alcohol. I'd appreciate the help.

When I was 15 I had surgery for acid reflux, it was suppose to be pretty routine, but they accidently hit my spleen and had to take it out, which left me with Paratinitis. I was in the hospital a full year,, so that was very expensive.

im jus goin off the head and i think that it might be lead poisioning u know scalpels and stuff. they might be dirty and unclean
