Depends on the situation. In a public building, almost any noise pollution is rude, singing, whistling, playing music without earphones (or so loud that other people hear it even with earphones). But I really don't see why two people gave thumbs-down to someone who said she liked her husband whistle while he worked in his own home! If you're at home, you like it and your family isn't annoyed by it, then how could it be rude. It really depends whether you're bothering any other people or not.

well if someone is just whistling a tune to themselves then no I don't think its rude. When someone whistles as in to get my attention indoors or out--like the way you call a dog-- I think its very rude--for some reason its just one of my "things"--

That sounds like one of the old myths such as don't walk under a ladder, or if a black cat crosses your path and all of that. I don't think whistling indoors is rude. Is singing indoors rude or is talking indoors rude?

Whistling irritates me for some reason. I guess it is just as bothersome to me as any other noise pollution: cell phone talkers, barking dogs, loud music and things of that sort. I have no desire to listen to some simpleton with Grammy dreams whistling a tune at the desk next to me....

while you're on my own, then whistle away. while you're with enterprise and don't recognize despite if or no longer they are going to savor your unsolicited warbling, that's perfect to abstain. it rather is an invasive and probably very annoying habit, and besides the actuality which you would be able to locate your whistling joyous and easy-weight-hearted, the probabilities are high others would be making a psychological notice to strangle you on your sleep.
