Hi, first of all thank you for being in Eastern Star. You folks do good work.

I am of an Order that has no Eastern Star because we admit women and men to all lights, rights and privileges: American Co-Masonry. But I have friends in the masculine only Freemasonry so I know some of them and their character. In American Co-Masonry I have yet to meet any Satanist.

I know most of the folks in American Co-Masonry, at least those on the top-most tier, the 32º and 33º and they are fine, upstanding women and men. One does not get to 30º without a lot of work. Nothing automatic there. So, we know they are not Satanists.

Fact is, most Satanists do not even worship Satan. They do not believe in any God. They are more into doing their own will. So I think that a real Satanist would have trouble with Masonry. You and your husband must know that.

One reads much on the Internet. Those who have startling confessions seem to make money off their books and being on talk shows. David Icke in England believes that George Bush and Tony Blair are extraterrestrial lizards.

Long answer but I thought Co-Masonry should be heard from, or at least one small corner of it.

Wasn't there a quotation about "by their fruits you shall know them"? Isn't there a parable about the Good Samaritan? Those that do the most rumor mongering do not seem to help the needy and the infirmed. Guess that would be too Satanic.

The devil worship rumor has been going around for a long long time. The Masonic family is in no way related to devil-worshipping. You must believe in a Supreme Being to become a member as you well know, there could possibly be a devil worshipper in you husband's lodge because they can believe in any 'God' they want to which would include Satan but, I dobut that devil worshippers would like being a mason anyway.

It doesn't matter. My family was filled with Masons and Eastern Star women and none of them were devil worshipers. They were all Christian and had nothing to do with Satan. That's the big rumor/conspiracy but supposedly no one but the upper level people know the 'real' truth and hardly anyone gets that high up. If it's true, you're never going to know if you are obviously a Christian. If you really think you're part of a devil worshiping cult than leave the organization, otherwise don't worry about it. You're never going to get a straight answer anyway.

One question: How can a Christian come before a man called The Worshipful Master and bow before him in a religious ceremony and say I am lost in darkness?

The Bible says if you are a believer in Jesus Christ and say you are in darkness, you are living a lie, and the truth is not in you. If Christ lives in your life, you have The Light.

Not to mention the ungodly oaths of Masons. Whether you shake it off as simple college-fraternity-type or not neither matters, because God says James 5:12 "Let your Yes be yes, and your no, no, or you will be condemned." We are not to swear by heaven or earth or anything else.

In the 17th degree of the Scottish Rite or the Knights of the East and West Degree, after the candidates have completed the initiation they are given the secret password "Jubulum" and the sacred word "Abaddon." Here is the clue to the true identity of the Masonic deity. Now read Revelation 9:11 in your Holy Bible. Who is Abaddon?

My step-dad, who I loved very much, was a Mason but he was so deceived. He was a good man and after my dad died, he made us a good step-dad. Good people are involved in Baal worship called Freemasonry and are unaware. God says in His Word, "If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal is God, follow him." (1 Kings 18:18,21) You can't serve two masters.

By former masons do you mean current christians? Because if you do, I think that is why. Perhaps they left because of something that caused bad feeling. I have personal experience of christians who would lie through their teeth to promote an agenda. (this is not to say all of them do)

I know a few masons, and it's nothing more sinister than a pyramid-scheme style club. Dan Brown has a lot to answer for.

I am in Eastern Star, my mother is OES, my grandparents, my grandfather a Past Master of Masons, my sister and I were both Job's Daughters... but I don't see a question here. What is the point of your statement? What is your question?

These organizations are quite secretive and have been associated with the occult for over a hundred years.

This association with the occult are not necessarily true, but they have been studied and investigated for a long time, and continue to be investigated.

Freemasonry has been questioned because it is a saecret fraternal organization and many of today's political and religious leaders have been involved in it in some way.

Many of the symbols from both organizations are quite similar to other symbols of various religions and occult like things. For example, the eastern star symbol is quite similar to the upside-down five pointed star. (not to be confused with the pagan symbol for life, the pentagram) The downward-pointing five pointed star is a symbol for satan, or the mark of the beast.

There is a great deal of information about freemasonry. You should probably do some research yourself.

Some people walk through the forest in the middle of nighta nd fear not. While others fear so, yet some feel the forest should not be walked through.

Your take on it is good, others not so good.

You can show yourself anything via allegory. Good, bad and maybe things you should not look at, yet it comes down to the person not what is already there..

My great-grandparents were also part of these organizations, so I promise you that there's no "devil-worship" going on. They wouldn't have had any connection to the organization if there were because they were very devout Christians.
