there are tons for every nationality. . . why is it that people single out black people like their being abused? What about Italians? Their called Wapps. Chinese? Tons for them. Whites - - crackers, howies, and a bunch more. Each group is called something by someone else. Unfortunately that's just how it is.

I call it the George Carlin effect: ***** â colored â black â people of color â African-American â ...
That last one is especially egregious because not all blacks are American, not all blacks are of African descent, and not all Africans are black. It seems that the gods of political correctness descended upon the word "black" and pronounced it negative. The derogatory connotation of the word "black" can easily be seen in the following expressions:
- After record profits last quarter, ABC Corp. is finally in the BLACK.
- Always safeguard your interests with a contract written in BLACK and white.
- Contrast can be improved in a telescope by lining the tube's interior with BLACK flocking material.
- A computer subroutine is best as a BLACK box, where the rest of the program neither knows nor cares how it gets the job done.
- Wow, i envy your rich, BLACK loam!
- That BLACKened catfish is simply deeelicious!
Whatever happened to "Black is beautiful"? And i suppose the reason we don't see "European-American" scattered liberally in newspaper articles is because "white" is a positive term? Some examples:
- In graphic design, the negative regions of the layout are known as WHITEspace.
- Watch him! He'll try to WHITEwash the negative events in his career.
- Creationists engage in black and WHITE thinking when try to prove Genesis by attempting to disprove evolution.
- How can you kids stand to listen to Chartreuse Day? Their music sounds like WHITE noise.
- The airport was forced to close due to WHITEout conditions.
I don't understand why we need euphemisms to begin with. Euphemism creep is a sign that the negativity doesn't come from the words, but from the object. Could it be poor self-image?
Call me anything except "n----r," the one word which has negativity built into it.

I agree...I'm not sure if it's because there truly are more or they just seem worse because of historical practices ( ie slavery). It really needs to stop because it implies that black people are inferior to other races when we all know they are NOT!

I think there an equal amount in every race, but some races use it as terms of endearment for their own, like "Hey Ho, let's get down." or "Hey my ni**a what's flowing?" ect... And it's ok.
