Umm.
If you want it, cool. Go get it professionally done. There's a reason you have to be 18. Because you make so many stupid choices when you're younger. And there's a reason that you have to get it professionally done. Because the piercer knows what they're doing, and they know how to be properly sterile while doing it.
If you self pierce, I hope you get a really ugly really bad infected bump. Which is going to result in a really gross scar. If you don't use a hollow needle you'll most likely get a bump. You won't know what gague stud to get until after it's done because of the needle. You probably don't know what length stud to get to start with. You probably don't even know that you have to use a stud.
Turn 18. Then get it done.

Why do you have to do it yourself? Are you too young? Why not wait until you are old enough to go to a professional if so? Doing it yourself puts you at high risk for an insane Infection (in the end will cost much more then if you were to get it done professionally) If you get infected, most people will tell you to take it out, which is BAD and will trap the infection inside your body. GROSS.
Also, You will not know how to place it properly or use the correct tools.
So, consider getting it done correctly. Don't waste your time

I would NOT do it myself. It could get infected and scar you way worse than if you had it professionally done. Go to a tatoo shop and have it done right. It only costs about $50. While you still have to keep it clean to prevent infection the odds are a lot better for you. Think about this a lot more. Is this something you want forever?? I know you can take it out any time but you will have a small scar on your lip no matter how it's done.

I'm guessing you have to do it yourself because you're underage. You should know that home-piercings are dangerous. You could hit a nerve, or tear the skin, or introduce infections that will cost you way more pain and money than you want to invest in a piercing. It takes skill to pierce, as well as proper equipment. (It's not just jabbing a piercing through your lip.) You need to use a hollow needle and be able to transfer the bar or hoop into the site without causing damage or infection. If you're using a hoop (which you are, because it's in your lip) you'll likely need to use a pair of pliers to bend the piercing into place. If you are underage, just be patient, or at least try to find a piercer who can supervise you while you do it so you don't ruin your lip.

hi ...advantageous question....i'm cassandra...a manner representative.Lip piercings would properly be hidden in plenty a similar way as a tongue piercing. the two would properly be hidden with especially made acrylic retainers, resembling tongue retainers, yet shorter. Lips piercings is additionally hidden with sparkling balls or discs on the top of a labret stud. In intense situations the place you purely choose it out for a quick time (like a job interview), removing the ball off a labret stud will do the trick.

Well, honestly, you shouldn't do it yourself. However, if you want to do piercings I believe they still have a course you can take in Seattle, WA for like $500. Then, you add in the cost of needles, autoclave, clamps, jewelry, and the marking stuff, and you're looking at a lot more money. It would be cheaper just to go and pay the $50 to have it professionally done.
If you are underage just ask your parents and explain that you will do everything to take care of it correctly. Or, that they won't really notice it. Well, unless they look at your lips. But anyway, good luck to you!

If you have to ask, its a good sign you don't know and since you don't know you shouldn't pierce yourself. You can cause a lot of damage and hurt yourself. Plus using improper tools and equipment is awful.
Seriously, don't do it. Its not that expensive to have a professional pierce you.

pierced his own lip in the middle, three times! first two he pierced it wonky and in the wrong place. don't do it yourself! it costs about $30 at most from piercing places. its not much of a hit in the wallet. especially for such a delicate piercing.

do you want to lose a lip? I did something like what your about to do and it was a serious medical issue within 24 hours. And that close to the brain makes it much much worse. Blood poisoning can kill you very very quickly.

I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself go to a professional, there is always the chance of infection etc even if you do go to a professional so it will be really risky doing it yourself!
