That's a bit of a loaded question. From our side, we might ask, "Why do women ask questions they already know the answer to?"
Men don't believe women are stupid. A man doesn't give an excuse like that because he believes you'll believe it. He gives that answer because it will probably break up the tension of the situation. He knows he's been busted doing something he shouldn't of been doing, but chances are that a woman will be less mad with a far-out, completely unbelievable answer like that, than if he grovels on the ground begging for forgiveness.
At a later time, it's possible that an apology will be given, depending on what stage the relationship is in. Obviously, if he keeps doing this, the woman will probably get fed up, and leave, which would make sense.
As to why men act like they know everything - that's easy - it's all about CONFIDENCE. It's the #1 thing that attracts women. It's less important, at least in the short term, that a man be able to back up any claims he may make to a woman, than is is that he make them. Many women will fall for a guy based on confidence, even when the person who has it lies a lot. Acting like a King pulls women. That's the fact, Jack....er....uh Janae.

Well girls are usually smarter than guys in achieving what they want in one way or another... guys are dumb in that case... there is only a few guys that actually can think that way and they are lucky :). Girls on the other way ar not "smart" in every day things like the car broke down... my pc don't work----- plug the power cable... I don't know what a phone cable looks like... Those are things that most of the times only a girl would say and do. But if we are talking about relationships guys do suck... Most of them have no idea how to treat ladies and find some retardet answers like your ex b/f now I belive... If he really gave you that answer just think how much of an idiot he is and it will help you forget about him

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. Many guys play girls as stupid because too any girls play themselves as stupid. Do you think a guy at the bus stop bilking people with a 3 card Monte came(the one where he shuffles three cards and you have to track the object card)will stop because he fooled 5 people into donating their money to his empty pocket? Logically, I DON'T THINK SO. If I was one of these guys or men who cheated on my last 3 g/f and yet I had 4 more girls WHO KNEW ABOUT IT, because of my reputation, yet they are waiting in the cut for me to dispatch my latest "hump and dump" project out the back door, I would think them stupid also. They say "a fool and his money are quickly parted" The guys whom would treat you more like they are dang lucky to have you, most girls reject as losers are geeks. Supply and demand. If you have 85% of the girls chasing 12% of the guys, they can be like the cable and oil companies. No matter how many times the bend you over and make you take it dry, they know you would part with your money to get what they have, so why do they need to worry about being polite and fair?

Ok double answer. Most guys don't actually want you to be/ feel stupid they just want you to think they are really smart! "Look at me I can do anything, ooh ooh pay attention to me!" Alot of it comes down to the whole knight in armor thing...I have the answer that well save the day!

This is usually because they have been brought up with very poor role models as fathers.Sadly it seems they think women are property not partners; and until this attitude changes, boys will continue tyo be in the dark ages of mentality.

we just like to feel superior. can never admit when we are wrong. and do (say) real stupid things thats can be unforgiveable (like the above, guy sounds like a jackass). Some are worse than others (and some of the others are probably gay).

only if we let them, you are the only one that can really answer that, it is by the way you present yourself. you can stand by and not have an opinion on anything and sure they are going to think you are stupid. stand up for yourself, dont let them walk all over you or you will be quote unquote stupid the rest of your life and boys will and do take advantage of that. stand tall and respect yourself and others will respect you too.

It is called ego. It is the caveman syndrome and they think that all women are idiots. Now don't get me wrong because not all guys are like that. I would dump him and move on because not every guy is a caveman.
