Completely agree, this double standard says it all really. The whole notion of state sovereignty has been completely undermined lately. The UK openly admits it is for defence, which would be outrageous if Iran claimed such a thing.
The man with no name above be is misinformed. or has never heard of the IRA, ETA, Zionist terrorism (40/50s)..the list goes on..and they are/were all non-islamic terrorist groups.
One more thing..Boomrat, are u suggesting that the Iraq war waged by the USA and UK DIDN'T cause death and destruction?? Where do you think Israel gets its finance from in order to cause death and destruction in the palestinian territories?! Atleast Iran doesn't rely on pretences.

I cant stand some of the liberal wishy washy answers you get with questions like this, and there almost always bleeding students who struggle to live away from home let alone in the real world.
Firstly, whilst we can agree Blair is an idiot, I seriously cant believe that this country is 'simply following America', as one poster put. Secondly, Britain has earned its place as one of the five vetoing countries and therefore yes, we can voice our concerns over Iran and the bomb, especially when there PM has said he'd wipe Israel of the face of the earth.
Although I'm sure our liberal student friend would rather everyone got rid of their nuclear arsenals and lived happily ever after...............grow up
Just an afterthought, who are these people that give you a thumbs down, unless your Iranian, and rather than simply disputing my argument get yourself posted on here explaining why. AND I stand by my opinion of liberals, it 's easy sitting safetly in your 'student' houses screaming Ban the Bomb, you can get on a bus whenever you want without worrying you or your family will be blown up by some brain washed kid. Bet your opinion would changed then

Because unfortunately Iran is a Muslim country and while not all Muslims are terrorists, all terrorist are Muslims. This means, unfortunately, that there is an considerable element of unpredictability about what Iran will do with these weapons.
I think it is save to say that there is no risk on UK using weapons in an irresponsible way.
Therefore my conclusion is that UK should have a say on Iran's weapons, whilst not vice versa. I don't like the idea of Iran having control over weapons, no matter if these weapons are stationed in Iran or in UK.

Britain like the USA is not in the market of selling this or other technology to terrorist groups like Iran has been caught doing over and over. Britain and the USA doesn't go around calling for the death and destruction of other nations. So no Iran gets no say so and they shouldn't get the right to have nuke power.

Britain shouldn't be building it as it perpetuates a violent society under the false banner of defence. Iran is a much more volatile country but Britain shouldn't have a say in that as it is just following america and the fact that america can't stand the idea of not being number one in the world after it spent billions upon billions crippling Russia (who shouldn't have spent it in the first place!)

Of course not. We should not have a say on Iran - the UN (of which the UK is a permament member) has a say and have said that they should stop whatever it is that they are doing and let the inspectors in.
Why should we allow countries that want to 'wipe' other countries off the face of the earth the means of which to do so.

The Trident missile can be deployed wherever you like and still be able to hit Iran or any other target in the world. If Iran had that capability they would be picking targets now and launching tommorrow thats the big difference between us.

Because we (and our ex colonies) developed those technologies and already sold you more than enough info in return for oil to make your leaders dangerous to themselves and innocents who only we can now protect.
