i had a peugeot 106 for years and it was great - i could drive from london to glasgow on a tank of diesel.

they're cheap to insure and run - a tip tho - mine didn't have a temperature gauge, just a light that came on when it was too hot. i never checked my water like my dad had taught me and therefore blew a hole in my radiator. so check your oil and water regularly.

Do at least 60 miles to the gallon. Just make sure the rear wheels sit vertical to the car and check the oil filler for 'mayonnaise' they are prone to head gaskets from time to time but very cheap to run and never rust.

Great wee car, only fault they have is as someone else said they are prone to head gasket failure so look for creamy substance under oil filler cap, oil in coolant water, cream on bottom of dipstick and pressure in header tank.

Body is galvanised and it has great economy. Could get 60mpg with careful driving.
