We totally love, respect and are having the time of our lives and I feel that we really want to get married but he is not the most speedy person in making the first move, so I would like to propose to him but not sure how to do it. I have a ton of great ideas as to were to do and how and I am pretty sure that he would be most flattered (and say hell yeah he'll marry me), just sailing unchartered waters. Any sugesstions? I know western society is so tradish, but we are both "boomers" and really love life and each other, so be kind in your replies.

I think you should find a way to bring it up as if it were someone else's idea and see what he has to say about it. My fiance told me once that I better never do that cause he wants the priveledge of asking my dad and then proposing to me and making a big deal out of it all.
If he doesn't sound opposed to the idea, then go for it!

It is definitely OK to be the one asking. I did it and we are getting married July 1 2007!!
I took him out on our 2 yr anni. to dinner at our restaurant and came home to open our gifts we had gotten each other. I had given him a cherry wood box with an engraved plate on it "Will you marry me" and inside were a pair of cuff-links that he had been wanting forever. Which I also got engraved with his initials. He cried. And said yes.

Hope that helps.

I think men enjoy getting flowers delivered every now and then and loves to be surprised or fine and dine them. Just set the mood right and just do it. If you think both of you are ready, I don't see why a woman can't propose to a man. I almost did it myself but he beat me into it. lol

Good Luck.

Sure, but why hasnt he asked you. Men know ok, he knows what he is doing. It would start a fight if you went to him and said this girl online said "you know what you are doing and why you havent asked her yet" He would get defensive, or attack you, or something. I would watch his behavior.
