First of all, congratulations! It's completely normal to gain weight after you quit smoking because smoking increases your metabolism. Therefore, when you quit your metabolism decreases. Are you eating more food or more often? If so, your mind is probably telling you that you need to eat more often to deal with the oral fixation some smokers get, but keep control over cravings.
Try drinking a glass of water before you eat. It that doesn't fill you up then you probably really are hungry. If you don't think you are hungry, but still want to eat try a toothpick, gum, suckers, Popsicles, etc. You may also try eating smaller more frequent meals, such as five small meals per day instead of two or three big ones. Eat healthy as often as you can and keep exercising. It's good for your mind and body. Good luck!

I am going through the same thing. I gained 50 pounds after I quit smoking, I had been smoking for 13 years. I figured out that I was using food as my cigarette substitution. Smoking is as much of an oral fixation as it is a chemical dependancy. Start sucking on lollipops when you find yourself eating , I even hold mine like I would a cigarette. Smoking also changes your metabolism so when you quit your metabolism slows terribly even if you continue to exercise. Try eating 6 small meals a day, drinking a ton of water & walking or doing some cardio at least 30 mins. a day. It's working for me, weight loss goes slow this way but you have to build your metabolism back up.THE LADY ABOVE ME IS RIGHT!
I hope it helps, if not- I'm sorry for being so long-winded! Just wanted to give some encouragement.

Eat only when hungry and that too not more than three times a day. Include uncooked fruits and vegetables in ur food. Take nothing but water in between the meals.
Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This improves digestion besides activating ur brain telling u that u have had enough.
Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.
U will achieve ur ideal weight in a reasonable time period effortlessly.

exercise is good but try doing a variety of them also a good diet will help to. but for smoking for 25years your body is slowly cleaning your body. it also matters how long you had quit. your body went through alot of damage like you heart and your lungs especially! you just have to give iot some time for your body to clean itself.
