I know you will have heard a lot of horror stories because I did when I had my wisdom teeth out.

I cracked one on a unpopped bit of popcorn and didnt do anything about it until a week later when i woke up in agony. I went to the dentists and all he could do was give me an injection for the pain until the swelling went down.

Finally after two weeks of being in sheer agony (couldnt eat or sleep properly) I got my first two wisdom teeth taken out (the dentist decided they would all be too weak and best to remove them before they cracked - the rest of my teeth are lovely - im 26 and i have no fillings). I was numbed up to the eyeballs and had the teeth out no problem. The sorest part was the novacaine injections. The bleeding had stopped by the time I left the dentist and I only needed one paracetomol by the time the novacaine wore off.

I could have gone back to work that afternoon but my boss made me take the rest of the day just in case - I didnt even have any of that hamster cheek swelling (im sure people thought I was lying - I offered to show them the hole in my gums but there wasnt any takers). I was careful eating on that side of the mouth for a couple of days and used salt water to rinse my mouth out to prevent infection but never had any pain.

I was the same the when i got the other two wisdom teeth taken out.

Good luck

Its no as bad as everybody makes out but for some reason you just hear the horror stories - so I thought I would share my good story with you.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed at once. It only takes a few days to feel better afterwards. Just be sure that you take care the way the dentist says. No smoking, or sucking on a straw, and be sure to swish with warm salt water a few times a day. Also, you will want to eat soft foods at first, like scrambled eggs and soup, but after that you will be ok.
You will be good as new in no time.

i would wait. i depends..every person has a different experience. my brother and i had ours out at the same time. he had 4 i only had 2. i was laying in bed for a week, he was out going to the gym 2 days later. i was swollen and couldn't eat right for almost a month. mine was more complicated than most though. the other thing is...i got an infection about 2 weeks after the surgery which was incredibly painful. i rinsed with salt water and still got an infection. so, i would just wait, if it was me, especially if the dentist says it can wait. good luck!

I got all 4 of mine out and the next day I was fine and I'm normally a wuss when it comes to pain, ask your dentist for a plastic syringe with a curved point, that way you can squirt water in the openings to make sure you get all the food out. They will only let you do that after your openings have healed, which is a couple of days. I was eating normal the next day, it was slow and I popped a stitch but at least I didn't have to eat jello and mashed potato's.

I had my two upper wisdom teeth pulled (first teeth pulled ever) and it was fine. The most painful thing was getting the shot in the roof of my mouth. I drove myself home a few minutes later and was fine that day. I could only eat soft foods for a few days and my mouth was mildly sore (relieved by taking tylenol). I felt much much better though, cause my wisdom teeth had caused so much discomfort. You'll feel a lot better, and have nothing to worry about.
Best wishes and good luck!

I had all four wisdom teeth taken out at once and had no ill effects. If your teeth are decaying it would be much better to have them removed just in case you set up an infection just
as your exams are due.No problems eating any more than having any other tooth out.Good luck with the exams.

Hiya,

Got 4 of my wisdom teeth out 3 weeks ago and am perfectly fine now. I got them done on a saturday morning and by Tuesday I was fine. I will be honest on the Sunday and the Monday I was fairly sore but once the swelling started going down it got much better.

It shouldn't affect your studies at all. I'd go ahead and get them out. Its the best thing i've ever done.

Best of luck with it

I had two of mine taken out by the Dentist. I never felt a thing and went straight back to work afterwards.

The other two were a different story - I had them done is hospital and they were a bit worse but try not to worry - worse case scenario it will take a few days to feel better.

DUDE! You are in for the ride of your life. If all goes well you should be able to start eating regular foods and will start felling better in a couple of months. If things go like they usually do for this procedure it's not going to be pretty. Lots of times a broken jaw is normal (but it will only be wired shut for 5-6 months) You will experience sore shoulders from the doctor standing on them while he yanks on your teeth. Your voice should return in about 4 weeks. But the good news is that your face will be black and blue for only about 2 weeks. Don't take your wallet along with you because the nurse will pick your pockets while you are screaming from all the pain. Glad I ain't you

I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out in one go, I got an abcess on one, decided to get rid of them all. It was tender for a couple of days, so I just ate soup and soft stuff, but after that it was fine.
I would advise you to have them out now, it will be one thing less to worry about with exams coming up, also if in three weeks they start to get infected/painful, you might have to sit your exams in agony.
