They can cost atleast $1000, from a good breeder. Then you have to think about the cage. A good cage can cost a few hundred dollars, plus all of the toys and attention. Cockatoo's and Macaws are expensive and time consuming. You should really research them before you decied to get one. Also, getting one from a random Pet Store is not the best idea. You want to find a good breeder with papers, vet assurance and a heath guarantee. If this is going to be your first bird, it is a bad choice. With birds, you want to start small then work your way up. Budgies(parakeets) are good started birds. Then move up to a cockateil or conure before you try a cockatoo or macaw. Do some research before you make up your mind.

well im in the uk and ive been an african grey breeder for about 6yrs now, and am honest to say that i have never come across a cockatoo costing as little as $100-$900! im not a conversionist but im sure thats around £50-£500! i for one have never seen a cockatoo or a macaw as cheap as that, well i have but they have always been older birds which arent worth buyin anyway espescially if they were hand reared from birth!!i wouldnt pay for an older bird, ive had them given to me but only because i know how to train older/mature birds..but i would never dip my hands in my pocket for a mature breed! now if your talkin about baby ones then thats another story.. the prices can range from as little as £800-£2000. £2000 for a baby macaw anyway, u would probably get a cockatoo for half that price.

It really all depends on who and where you are getting it from. I have an umbrella cockatoo that i got for free from a friend who couldnt have her anymore he paid 700 for her from a pet store because she had previouse owners. Some people pay 1000 or more. i would just check out all the places that sell them and find the right bird for you.

I have seen them cost anywhere from $900 to $18000. It really depends on finding a good breeder. If you go to a pet store it will cost a lot more. Breeders don't charge as much and you will also know a lot more about the bird.
