What's there to retire from? Allowing every imaginable, torture, starvation, war, and sickness? Oh my, we sure will miss him.

Maybe it's similar to why Elton John used to sign autographs after shows all the time when he was an up and coming star, but eventually his fame got so big that he had to come to the realization that if he gives somebody "just 10 seconds" of his time, he has to give thousands of other fans "just 10 seconds" of his time, and it adds up to not having time to do anything else. I'm sure God has much more important things to manipulate and deal with than some guy on the third rock from the sun who sends a prayer asking for the Dallas Cowboys to win another game.
I guess that's what makes my atheism another logical choice. If there is no God, then I have nothing to lose. If I'm wrong, then I still did the right thing by living my life using whatever I was given, without whining and bugging him for help. How's that for Pascal's Wager?

God will never retire. He is eternal. He doesn't get tired. He doesn't sleep. The trouble is that we have failed to proclaim the message as we ought to. It isn't God's fault that we have grown indifferent to preaching the word. Nevertheless, His word will last forever and the message that was given 2000 years ago is still the same today and will produce the same results when it is handled correctly. God gave the message to us to spread across the world so that every individual would have an opportunity to obey it. That is where we have failed because we do not carry out that command as much as we should. We have retired from the word, Not God.

I think looking at His creation, and the mess we made of it all, would sent anyone into retirement. However, I'm afraid, or shall I say glad, that God is in this for the long run. We make the mistakes and He cleanse it up. What great love that is.

No, I think it's more like a pin-ball machine...we don't see anything going on, but things are getting worse down here. God is pulling the trigger farther and farther back, waiting to release it to produce maximum judgement. BOOM!

I'm thinking it's his day off. They say that a day for God is like 1,000 years and we're coming up on year 7,000 now.
It is almost time for God's 1,000 year vacation.
Edit: Boca sucks. Too many old people and rich kids on drugs.

You make some valid, if somewhat silly, points. God used to be directly involved in what man is doing, coming down and talking to people directly. If he does that now, we assume the person is crazy.

Christians have been telling me lately that God died for me.
...so why would anyone want to worship a dead God?
