Christians constantly denounce Muslims as being "hateful".

Lets say this is the case, How can you blame me? doesnt the Bible say that David says in the Psalms:

21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD,
and abhor those who rise up against you?

22 I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
[psalm 139]

and

"I hate those who cling to worthless idols;
I trust in the LORD.

7 I will be glad and rejoice in your love,
for you saw my affliction
and knew the anguish of my soul.
[psalm 31:6-7]

I must admit i hate those who cling to worthless idols such as the cross and the idea that Jesus(peace be upon him) died for our sins. I love God with all my heart and soul and likewise I hate those who do not worship Him alone and submit to Him as Muslims.

tyler durdn, im not denying that Jesus (peace be upon him) may have said that.

But it still doesnt mean you can blame me for having 'hate' towards God's enemies, for it clearly shows that at one point according tot he Bible God commanded to hate.

I don't get your question. You ask why christians denounce muslims as being hateful, (not all christians hate muslims and not all believe muslims to be hateful--you can't blame the actions of a few on an entire group) then you say you hate non muslims. I personally believe everyone can worship as he or she sees fit. I have no right to hate anyone else just because they don't believe as I do. A friend of mine is Muslim and she says the Koran teaches many of the same principles as the Christian Bible. She also said that while muslims don't believe Jesus is the son of God that muslims do recognize him as a prophet. Maybe if we all hated each other a little less and educated ourselves on other religions there would be more peace in the world.

Have Love for your Enemies...

Mathew 5:43-48

43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

To reply to your comment I would say that, as far as the Bible is concerned, it would appear that you are right.

However, you also said, "at one point." So, we must look at the time that this "one point" was. And, from what I can tell of the scriptures that you have brought about, we are talking about the time of the Old Testement.

My wife has always used this analogy...
Look at God as a parent. When a child is young (like the mind of man in the time of the Old Testament), the parent must be a bit more authoritative and strict. But, as the child grows up, that parent is able relax its authoritativeness and be more compassionate and consoling with its children.

So, while the word of God seems to depict that one should hate those that hate God, we must realize that those words were spoken in a time of a more authoritative and strict God; as his children were still young.
But, when Jesus came to this world, his words were to fulfill and uplift the word of God to a more loving nature; being as his children had grown up some.

salutations everybody!

Some interesting points have been raised here. Im a muslim, ill get that out of the way-
that means that i have entered into a contract with God, and have aspired to live my life : (TO ROSE) Islam calls for me to stop worshipping things which are created, and focus my attention onto the creator and have trust/faith/love in The Creator (one of the 99 names of Allah)

Lisa/Figato:
interestingly enough, there was a version of the Bible in the 50s (i think) where the word Alah replaced the word God.

Jesus didnt just say "im gonna die for you" according to christian teachings, (well i cant even remember him saying that at all) but he also prayed to God!

I dont think that All christians hate muslims- there are some evangelicals who make fun of the muslim prayer (heads down bums up) but they arent real christians because Jesus never made fun of prayer- ITS SERIOUS BUSINESS!!!

and besides - Jesus prayed like that too!
check out my sources.

tebone:
i think most christians are loving of other people. there are some who preach on tv- a different strand of christianity though... and christianity has changed over the centuries- im researching american colonial history for a law subject here in Australia and the hatred of the royal proclamations towards the natives for being unchristian is surprising! There was a sheikh a few days ago who gave a lecture on the language of faith- ill post it up too- it talks about the terms faith in latin, arabic and english...

muslims dont love everybody, like we dont like evil people, and we dont like things that anger God. So this hatred (if i understand islam correctly) is directed more towards evil actions than towards evil people. And this comes from the idea that people change and there is hope of God's mercy and forgiveness until the moment death sets in.

Farm dude- we know you never believed islam was a peaceful religion- just come out and say it- no matter what we do you will not change- its a phenomenon the Quran describes and one you'll agree with.

ianptt
my broadband is lagging, so i didnt get to read all those commandments- ive read them before and ive been told that all of them are in islam- they are islamic principles

there is talk from christians that they want to do what God wants them to do- this is also an islamic principle and by definition- this is what a muslim does-
in other words- many christians are behaving islamically and many are muslims in a general sense

now i mentioned before the bond or contract that exists between you and God and how muslims affirm that contract (And when you convert to islam you need witnesses to bear testimony that you reaffirmed that contract), There is a specific definition of islam and muslim and that is that you do not contaminate your belief and your islam with ascribing human qualities to God and giving God like qualities to the creations (both of which we see a lot in the modern world!) and basically the idea of trinity goes against that principles, so whilst christians are muslims in a general sense- they are not muslims in a specific sense (you know! the guys from the middle east with beards and stuff! LOL -im not from that place but you get the idea)

unnamed guy- the countries in the muslim world torture muslims more than they do with your so called "khafirs"- under islam they wouldnt be called kafirs in the first place and they wouldnt be tortured at all.

that is why groups like al qaeda hate these countries just as much as you do.

We believe (to country girl) that God revealed the torah psalms and injeel (gospel) which we dont take to mean the present day bibles but we do recognise that there is truth in them but we also recognise that theres falsehood in them- so the prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him told his friends that they shouldnt read them because they might read something true (ie revealed) and yet declare it to be fabricated and read something wrong and think it was revealed like that...

The Quran is the final testament and the Quran says that it has explained every single matter (which is what we believe). We dont turn to the Gospels or psalms - some christians do though.

(people who ask because they know they lack knowledge are students- and theres nothing wrong in being a student. )

Dear Friend,

Jesus taught us the following:

The Greatest Commandment
Matthew 22:34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Hate does not come into the hearts when following the one true God, we hate the sin but love the sinner.

May the peace of God and the Love of Christ be with you

I have absolutely no reason in the world to hate you or to judge you. The Bible didn't fall out of the sky, it was written by men and women just like us. As for the Psalm's David was no good guy either. He had a man killed so he could have his wife. Not nice. Everyone has free will and I respect your free will.

You misrepresent Islam and Muslims by your hatred of Christians. This is unIslamic. If Muslims men can marry Christian and Jewish women, why on Earth do you say that Muslims can't be friends with Christians? I believe you are confused about how Muslims are to relate with non-Muslims.

Please check your beliefs and do not post things like this, because you make Muslims look really bad, and wrongly so.

nice. I am not sure that I agree with your poinnt, but it is well thought out.

I know that CHristians believe that the Old Testament (including Pslams) is outdated, and that they are to live by the New Testament, which says nothing about hating b/c of false idols. Do Muslims believe the same way? Sorry for my ignorance.

How can you hate "all" Christians for hating "all" Muslims? sounds like hypocrisy to me. I heard Muslims were peaceful and I never thought twice about it..the fact is, there are hate full people all over the world..there are hate full Christians, hate full Muslims, hate full atheists, hate full Buddhists, hate full Hindus, etc. But there are also loving and caring people in this world and that to is regardless of what language a person speaks or how they worship.

Yes, so much for Islam being the "Religion of Peace". You do not love God if you hate people that he created. The world is full of different viewpoints and religions. There are many paths to God, everyone is free to choose their own way. Every religion on this planet has some aspects that we can learn from. You should learn to respect others beliefs as long as they do not interfere with yours. Peace to you.

If you consider yourself our enemy, the Bible says to love our enemies.

LOOK: all humans have a enemy and he is Satan and his demons. Christians need to pray to the only God who can actually hear and answer our prayers, Jesus Christ the Resurrected. Pray for people not hate them please, Jesus died for everybody. We show the world we are Christians by the way we love. Wake up.
