It is difficult to forget someone you love! Detachment with love is also difficult but it is worth it! Another words letting him be himself and respecting his wishes, another words be his friend if possible and move on if you are meant to be together there is a saying If you love someone set them free if they return it was meant to be!

Yes and No.. you need to get over the love simply because you need to move on with your life find the one you really are looking for...
.. but you cant forget it because its part of making yourself. What makes people is experience of what has happened, learn from it and use it make better decisions down the road. It helps a person grow.

Never forget but still move on and remember that life goes on. You can't forget because it's the moments in our life that make us who we are or become. But refusing to let go can tarnish your growth process as a human being so let him/her go to spread their wings so you can do the same in life!
