Photography is the type of job that unless you are very passionate about it, you're not going to do very well. I think the most work available is portraiture and selling your photos to magazines. But the cons about selling your photos to magazines is that a lot of the times they try to rip you off, yes esp. the high class magazines like Vouge. There is sooo much competition I can't tell you exact numbers but I can give you a comparison, It's as competitive if not more than trying to be a fashion designer and it's very similar in success rate.
