1) It is impossible to get a job that pays better than the minimum wage without a High School Diploma.
2) Any job that you get without a high school diploma will make it impossible to have a comfortable lifestyle unless you decide to live with mom and dad for the rest of your life.
3) School is your first "window to the world". You can learn about places you have never been. It should whet your appetite for adventure.
4) A lot of the important lessons that you learn in school you won't learn in the classroom and these are things that you need to be sucessful in the real world. Things like being on time, managing time, and meeting deadlines. It is best you learn these things without facing the stiff penalties of the real world (EX: If you are consistantly late to work in the adult world, you don't get detention, you can get fired)
5) You need the basic skills that school teaches you. Any boss in the real world assumes that his employees know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide as well as write in a clear and coherent manner. No boss is going to have time to sit and teach you the things you should have already learned in school. There is always someone he can replace you with.
6) School is your first proving ground. When you go into the real world to look for a job one of the things you have to have is references, people who can attest what type of person you are and what you are capable of. A teacher is a good reference.
7) Graduating from school is indicative of your desire to stick with things and finish them. If I am an employer looking at your application and resume and I see that you didn't finish school it will raise red flags. Does that mean you will quit a job when things don't go your way? Do you not take instruction well? are some of the questions I would have.
8) You would get bored easily during the day when people are either working or in school. A person can only handle so much daytime TV.
9) The military is no longer an option. Years ago, people dropped out and joined the military. Today's military is very technological and they require a high school diploma or GED. The Navy and Air Force do not take GEDS.
10) Do it for YOURSELF because you want to be successful.
