Educate yourself about autism
Ask your health professional or contact autism organizations to find training about autism and how to manage symptoms. This type of training has been shown to reduce family stress and improve a child's functioning.6 Understanding the condition and knowing what to expect is an important part of helping your child develop independence.

Become informed about your child's educational rights. Federal laws require services for handicapped children, including those with autism. In addition, there may be state and local laws or policies to aid children with autism. Find out what services are available for your child in your area.

Learning about autism will also help prepare you for when your child reaches adulthood. Some adults with autism can live by themselves, work, and be as independent as other people their age. Others need continued support.

Thoughts about web sites for support system...I personally have not found one yet that is good for much.
It is better I think if you can find a support group in your area. People on the computer tend to be false. At least when you look someone in the eye they can not just log off.

Another thing I noticed is it is good to get peoples opinion with what ever mental illness you are looking for as far as a support system, on the internet these groups are paid for by pharmaceutical companies trying to push there drugs or authors trying to push there books.

For instance I do not believe in drugging everyone with a mental illness. Saying this in a Online support group is asking to be attacked by those who use drugs. Been there done that.

Anyhoo this has been my personal experience....

it is not unlawful to droop your new child, even nevertheless he has disabilities. The regulations state that for sure. they additionally state like somebody else pronounced that if he's suspended for greater effective than 10 days at a time, or ten days in an entire college year if the suspensions signify a development alongside with comparable incidents, frequency, and so on. If the two of those factor happen then on day 11 you're meant to have a manifestation assembly to make certain if his behaviors are on the subject remember of his incapacity. in the event that they're then the college has to offer him with an decision academic placing. i in my opinion could request an decision placement in a appreciably seperate college room, or a school for infants with behavioral and social emotional matters. in view that my son has been placed in a school room for infants with Emotional Disturbance (Oh how plenty I hate that observe for a new child with Autism...) his suspensions have stopped. the instructor is knowledgeable to handle the behaviors greater desirable. they have a outing area interior the college room. For him the smaller greater primary environment makes a huge distinction. IMO you ought to request an IEP assembly in writing ASAP by ability of letter. interior the letter state which you're assembly to talk approximately placement, his present day suspensions, and his BIP which must be as much as date after each suspension. Is Killeen autonomous college a public college? in spite of if this is inner maximum then they do no longer ought to persist with any of the federal regulations that public colleges ought to abide by ability of and that's an entire different ballgame.
