There is a good chance of that, these illnesses are partly genetic, partly environment. What you can do is help your brother and his wife when they are having symptoms, so the child gets adequate care and love when he is growing up. Hopefully their meds help them so they can be good parents, but help them develop a good support system. If they lack insight into their illnesses when they are getting sick, make sure they fill out a psychiatric advance directive, to let relatives/social workers how to handle their care, and their child's care, if they're too sick to be clear about what they want. You can go to bazelon.org for links to your state's advance directives.

Hopefully, if their boy does get mental illness, it will be caught early because your family is looking for it, so he will get good treatment before his life can get derailed.

All the best! You're a thoughtful sister/aunt!

He may not, but likely he will. Even if he does not inherit either of these diseases, he will learn the behavior. So he could have it just from watching how his parents are. Growing up in that kind of enviroment makes it hard for a kid to be normal. Although I have a friend who's mother was Schizophrenic, the kids all seem to be normal.

Your nephew has many things going against him. It is up to nature though. He might be perfectly fine?
Living with people with mental illness is a rather difficult thing to do, and one who is raised in such a household may pick up traits of the mentally ill and think it is normal...
