I run about 2 hours EVERY DAY. It's like an addiction I have, albeit a healthy one.

I just want to ask: Is that too excessive? Should I try to cut back on the running just a bit?

If it's what you enjoy doing, then all the power to you. So far my best excercise is getting the beer from the store to the fridge then into my belly. Hey, maybe you could go run to the store for me so I don't have to move the car?

As long as its not hurting you it seems like no harm is being done. In my case it started to hurt my knees. Amazingly enough it bounced some neck joints out of alignment and I got a horribly sore neck from running--I had to see a chiropractor to get fixed up. So I had to give up running. I don't miss it that much now, I am used to not doing it any more, but I power walk up a lot of hills and that is something of a substitute for running.

I read an article once about running, it said running produced a release of the pleasure chemicals inside your brain, whether its ephinepherin (sp?) or norephinepherin (sp?) I don't know, but that is why running is indeed addictive.

Anyway, if it isn't hurting you, why not keep enjoying it? And of course the time tested advice--don't run down hills, don't run on concrete, and do use good running shoes.

No this is not excessive the only problem we might need to adress is impact shock on joints , maybe do one day of swimming a week and one day of rest, what a great addiction to have, good on you. Good running shoes are important, grass is supposed to be least stressful surface to run on. Your body will like to have 1-2 days off, but i suppose you could do push ups and intensive stretching for one of the days most football players do some light laps in swimming pool or just allieviating muscle and joint pain through water therapy (sports medicine)

FREE RADICALS! - they're produced all the time, no matter what you do, but running this much without compensating by taking in antioxidants, is not a good idea. If you don't want to speed up the aging process and increase your likelihood of getting disease in general, I think you should look into supplementing and making sure your diet is a healthy one.

A man that worked with my husband that ran at least 7 miles a day and died at 50. His cardiologist said that he had worn his heart out by running too much.

I don't think 2 hours a day is excessive. You SHOULD give your body one or two days of rest per week but other than that, you're fine.

wow that is awsome i use to do that for cross contry. but try to have 2 days of no running every week, so then your body can rest- trust me use those 2 days as an advantage.
