Sometimes I get the feeling my friend likes me, but I keep telling myself it's not possible. Whenever he sees me he smiles - a proper, face-lighting-up smile. He sometimes smiles at me across the room for no particular reason. When we're walking somewhere he walks really close to me, but I might be imagining that. He'll often sit next to me, either when we're at friends' houses or at church (where I know him from). Recently he's started apologising if he doesn't sit with me - saying things like 'I've just got to go and talk to ...' when I'd made no mention of him sitting with me. I talk to him a lot, and sometimes he asks me questions like when my birthday is. He tells me a lot about himself and his family, and has confided in me when he's had problems with one of his friends. He'll always talk to me when he sees me, and sometimes I get the impression he's trying to be close to me or coming to things because he knows I'll be there. He's shy so it's hard to tell what he's thinking.

I've learned from experience, when ever I guy shows any interest in you, he has to like you in some way. If he didn't why would he go out of his way to sit by you all the time, or even explain the times when he can't. If he walks close to you that means he wants everyone to know he's associated with you in some way. He has to like you that's why he's acting this way, and if he smiles when you walk into the room, that's definitely a sign, like you said in your question, he is shy, and that's why he's moving slow with you. Don't worry (smile) HE LIKES YOU!
