I go to a clinic where I see my psychiatrist and have a case manager. There are therapists, too, but I need to get my name on a waiting list to see one and my case manager has to do that. I've seen her once, about five weeks ago. Two days later, I called her and left a message asking her to put me on the list and requesting she return the call to let me know how long I'll have to wait. I never heard from her again. Now, I do not want to have anything to do with her. However, the only other way that I can think of finding out if she put me on the list is calling her supervisor, but I don't want to get her in trouble, either. Why do I care about getting her in trouble if I don't want to have anything to do with her?

Unfortunately, I have no insurance and low income, and I don't want to go to Christian Services or another religious service. Also, I can't find any other 'sliding scale fee' places. Any thoughts on where I can look for a therapist with low rates?

If I were you, I'd get on the phone and be a pain to the case manager and/or her supervisor. You're too important to let them ignore you like that. Perhaps also talk to your psychiatrist about this, he/she may have suggestions as to how to deal with the issue. Best of luck.

WheW! No offense intended, but it sure took you a while to get to the question!

Low cost therapy: Try calling the local psych grad schools. Most have a post-master's clinic where their new grads are getting supervised experience.

I would ask your psychiatrist to put you on the list. Psychiatrists have a lot of power and are able to refer to different services. Tell him/her the problems you've been having.

You should ask that person out on a date.

Maybe call a church you like and ask if they can recommend someone.
