Honestly, the way you propose won't matter, she'll be bawling and borderline fainting anyway! :) But seriously, you don't need tons of money or an elaborate proposal. I once heard about a couple whose first date was at a pizza restaurant. Well, the guy proposed by ordering a pizza from that restaurant and putting the ring right on the middle of that pizza! I thought that was just too cute and too sweet. But it just goes to show that you that, as long as your heart is in it, it will be a wonderful proposal!!! Congrats and good luck!

Take something that you both enjoy doing together and propose during that.
I'll give you an example. My coworker and her boyfriend Geocache (modern day treasure hunting with a GPS). Her boyfriend brought the ring along, said they were going to a place where there was more than one cache hidden. When they got to the location of the first cache and were looking for it, he bent down and said "I think I found one!" He was on one knee when she came running over, opened up the box it was in and asked her to marry him.
It doesn't have to be expensive... just unique to both of you.
Good luck!

Check these out especially this last one in about.com. Think about what she likes. paying attention to the details is crucial tomaking a proposal special and memorable.
Personally, I like a garden as a setting like in a city park and the old fashioned get on your knees and propose routine. Placing the diamond inside a red rose or inside whatever flower she likes and having her search inside and finding it is a really romantic and creative way of popping the question and not at all expensive.
Good luck and congrats!

You really don't need to go out and do something so elaborate for the engagement. When you propose, just go somewhere that is meaningful and maybe just take her out to dinner later that night to celebrate. Maybe a few weeks later you guys can have a big engagement party instead.

my ex colleague got proposed this way: the boyfriend brought her for a dinner and when it's time to pay, the waiter/waitress brought the bill folder (something that looks like a mini hardcover file) to her and when she opened it, it's a message "Will you marry me?".
That's so sweet...and it doesnt have to be in an expensive restaurant...so, it would be quite a surprise as i dont think she will be expecting it anyway!!
All the best!!

Choose a nice restaurant in your town. What I would do is have a champagne toast first, then put the satin box with the engagement ring inside and place it right in front of your girlfriend. Ask her to marry you...and the rest is history.

My teacher told me that he proposed to his wife by walking her down a pier and his friends started singing around her "My Girl" by the Temptations he joined in and after the song, he proposed to her but as far as a get away you don't have to go that far. You can go to the beach and have a picnic their, you can go to a theme park, or more!

Just mean it, and show her how much she means to you. Try and do your homework before you buy the ring and make sure it fits her. Maybe check out some websites and style guides first.

Fill the room with lit candles play soft music.... the music you can burn a cd and the candles you can get at a dollar store. I think it would be very romantic.
