I'm trying to get rid of my car. I was wondering if DMV bought cars from people?

No.... why would you think that DMV buys cars? Because there are so many cars parked on their lot? Hahahahahahaha!

The California DMV had a program a few years ago to buy vehicles that were classified as gross polluters from individuals and have them crushed. That program has ended and you are stuck with selling your car to a dealer or private party or salvage yard.

dmv is not a used car dealer, it is the division of motor vehicles where you get tags and pay taxes on your car/truck etc...
try ebay or your local newspaper
