Ok I heard that the United States hired people to run the draft machines and to test them out is this true?

Yes, they do it every few years.

Next time someone accuses a conservative of "fearmongering," I will point out the dozens and dozens of questions here about the draft, which the administration and the military say they DON'T want.

Who is stirring up all this anxiety?

If we are going to continue to escallate the war we may have to resort to the draft. If so the machines that select the numbers will need to be working properly.

Yes. And they have done it in the past, too (Early '90s, I think). They do it from time to time. Doesn't mean there's going to be a draft.

Yes the test happens every 10 years. It will happen again in 2009.
