I think "oh God" is still common, even among atheists. It's just something we learn from society and culture. I don't think anyone would really be invoking God in that moment.

Depending on the situation, I have many interesting phrases.

"Exclamation: Used to precise a large determination thoughts inclusive of ask your self, anger, and misery: 'my God! Why did no longer you let us know?'" needless to say you do no longer could desire to have faith in God to assert "oh my God," you're merely overthinking a effortless expression. @johnsmithcowboy: that's because of the fact the atheists are out battling jointly as the christians are interior the foxholes praying. ^you're no longer the only one that may make fake statements. i presumed mendacity replaced right into a sin, sure, mendacity for Jesus remains mendacity.

Gordon Benet.

Dont ask me why he picked Gordon he might have known him at some point but I use it to this day. Does exactly the same as shouting Oh God....nothing but it gets something out of you.

I do. Out of habit. It's a useful expression.
A very common expression of surprise where I live (Ireland) is
"beat-the-******-jaysus".
You can also "beat-the-jaysus" out of someone (beat them up).
It's mainly used by farmers and people in rural areas.
