002.023 And if ye are in doubt concerning that which We reveal unto Our slave (Muhammad), then produce a chapter of the like thereof, and call your helpers beside Allah if ye are truthful.

011.013 Or they say: He hath invented it. Say: Then bring ten chapters, the like thereof, invented, and call on everyone ye can beside Allah, if ye are truthful!

010.038 Or say they: He hath invented it? Say: Then bring a chapter like unto it, and call (for help) on all ye can besides Allah, if ye are truthful.

017.088 Say: Verily, though mankind and the jinn should assemble to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof though they were helpers one of another.

Note:although the Arabs at the time of Muhammad (pbuh) were
pioneers in poetry,no one ever dared to imitate the Qur'an,they haven't heard anything like it before.

it is not an ordinary book. Most non-arabic speakers however will not be able to fully appreciate the miraculous nature of the Qur'anic eloquence.

I suggest the translation by Muhammad Muhsin Khan, Marmaduke Pickthall's translation was the first in English i believe, but the old English takes away from a clear understanding

[002.023] And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur'ân) to Our slave (Muhammad [Peace Be Upon Him]), then bring a Sûrah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides God, if you are truthful. [011:013] Or they say, "He (Prophet Muhammad [Peace Be Upon Him]) forged it (the Qur'ân)." Say: "Bring you then ten forged Sûrah (chapters) like it, and call whomsoever you can, other than God (to your help), if you speak the truth!"

[010:038] Or do they say: "He (Muhammad [Peace Be Upon Him]) has forged it?" Say: "Bring then a Sûrah (chapter) like it, and call upon whomsoever you can besides God, if you are truthful!"

[017:088] Say: "If mankind and the jinn were together to produce the like of this Qur'ân, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they helped one another."

[017:089] And indeed We have fully explained to mankind, in this Qur'ân, every kind of similitude, but most of mankind refuse (the truth and accept nothing) but disbelief.

most have never dared to read it, so they are astray
