The question suggests the answer. Most people subscribe to the "what they do" part, but when you're just getting to know someone, all you have to rely on is what they say. So, for most of us, it's a little of both. And some of us want to hope so badly that someone has "changed" or whatever, that regardless of what we say we believe, we'll rely on promises and pretty words even if we secretly know better! ;-)

Honestly, I'm paying attention to both. People will say anything, but what they do will tell the story. I learn more about people when I listen to what they say, but at the same time, watch their actions. Helps me see what kind people I may be dealing with. So you should pay attention to both.

Pay attention to both. This way you know whether they are consistent in what they say and what they do.

There is a saying"walk the talk" In other words if you say something make sure you carry through. I guess my answer to you is I listen first than wait for the action so both are of equal value to me.

I pay attention to everything. You learn alot about people by being an observer. I've learned alot by just sitting back and watching a group of friends or people dating interating with each other. How we handle ourselves with other people tells alot about how you use your emotions and how you treat people.

Actions always speak louder than words, especially if they are words that have been repeated over and over and over and over with no action to back them up. Ths is a continued form of manipulation and abuse that no one needs in their life.
