We don't know the true name of God (as used in the Temples). When referring to god except in prayer we use the name Hashem (literally 'the name') and we use another word in prayer which is pronounced "Adonai". That word shoudl only be used in prayer though and never in songs or genreal speech.

It is and it has been. Only on Yom Kippur in the Holy of Hollies by the High Priest was it permissible.

i think it is Satan distracting them for actually remember God, so they just write G-d, I need to see scriptural proof for this.
