Caffeine, in general, isn't good for you. It is a stimulant, though, so it can boost your metabolism to some degree. I wouldn't use it as an anchor in your fitness plans.

Most of the diet "pills" (which by the way are worthless) contain caffeine. Caffeine, like all other things, is good in moderation. It's recently been found to be great for your skin and kill off radical cancer cells in your body, among other things. It can also enhance pain killers like aspirin. Check out an "Excedrine" bottle sometime and you'll see caffeine as one of the ingredients. It's also been known to help hyperactive children! Yes, sounds weird, but it can have a "rebound" effect on some kids and improve their behavior. AND...it's natural. God didn't make any junk! "Moderation in all things" is a good moto. Thanks for asking an educational and informative question that will help others! Godloveya.

Although you may think you're getting plenty of liquids when you drink caffeinated beverages, caffeine works against the body in two ways: It has a mild dehydrating effect because it increases the need to urinate. And large amounts of caffeine may cause the body to lose calcium and potassium, causing sore muscles and delayed recovery times after exercise.

Drink water not caffienated drinks.

I read that caffeine keeps fat cells from breaking down. I don't have any scientific evidence from the article.

Caffeine is also a natural diuretic so make sure you drink enough water so you don't get dehydrated.

It does boost metabolism, which can help you lose fat. However, it could cause water retention, which could make you look bloated. Also, if you're thinking about coffee, watch your sugar and creamer levels, they'll make you put on pounds.
