I am not saying by looks alone of course conversation can be taken into account just no direct asking.

Absolutely. Just by talking in general conversation (and knowing which questions to ask!) I could come pretty close to 100% accuracy.

The Irish, Hispanics and Italians are Catholic. The accountants are Jewish etc. I guess we could stereotype and jump to conclusions, but where would that get us?

In seriousness, I agree with Father K. After a few questions we could make fairly accurate estimates.

1) Is Jesus God?
2) Is the Virgin Mary the Mother of God?
3) Do you want to go out for a bacon cheeseburger on Friday?
4) Do you want to go out for a beer on Friday?
5) Do you want to take a Starbucks break?

etc.

No, I don't know enough about the differences between all the denominations, and there are so many of them! I might be able to tell if they were Catholic or Protestant (I don't know enough about Greek Orthodox to discern that). And I could probably tell if they were evangelical or fundamentalist or not. But that's about it. Well, I might be able to pick out a Methodist just because I was one! But even in the Methodist church, there is so much variation!

If you know the Bible and the steps involved in becoming a Christian, and if you know that the Lord's church is not a denomination, and you ask each one how to become a Christian, you will be able to tell the true Christians because they will all give you the same answer.

I can tell by their cars. On a Sunday look at parking lots and the condition of the church. A snake handling cult will have beater Dodge Pickups, A Jewish temple, BMW's and why would a Jew drive a German car? JW - a beater, if they drive a new car its likely a Hyundai and they have a dirt or grass parking lot and beat up church

Certain sects have varying socio economic groups that reflect the education of the congregation. You wont find a Neurosurgeon at a snake handling cult and you wont find an astrophysicist at a JW Kingdom Hall.

Christians have one major factor in common...they believe in Jesus Christ and that He died on the cross for the sins of the world. The church that they serve him under is really inconsequential. But, to answer your question, one might be able to pick out a Christian Catholic in a group of other Christians if they were wearing a cross of the crusifiction. Other than that...no.

More than likely not. There may be many denominations with differences in doctrine interpretation but to be called a Christian they all share the main point, who Jesus is.

I liken it to many different clothing stores. There's Wal Mart, Reitmans, Hugo Boss, Georgia Armani, Chanel ... they all have different syles of clothing but all are clothing stores.

If you were in a room full of muslims would you be able to tell who was who without asking? Sunni or Shiite or Fatah or Hamas or Hezbollah or Al quada?
Now do you see what the soldiers are trying to do.
Who would be for you and who would be against you?

I can tell who is more of a Conservative Fundamentalist/Evangelical type and who's more a Liberal type just by conversating with them. But in terms of just looking at people then there's no way possible of knowing who's who or what.

No. Hearing them speak about their faith in conversation I believe would give you some idea. By looks alone? That would be judging.
