I would think it would be better to work off all that dinner food during the day and eat light at night because all you do is sleep.... isn't it better to have a heavy breakfast and a light dinner?

The answer to your question is, 'yes', dinner being usually the biggest and complete meal we have in a normal day. The nutritionists say, don't they (?), that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But doesn't it also come down to, first, the food you stomach is prepared to accept for breakfast. Personally, a three course meal is the last thing on my mind when I have just woken up. The next consideration, is what you can eat that will sustain you to the next meal, which is for me about 5 hours later when I've put in half a day's work. I find grain is the best solution. Natural grains not the Coco rice bubbles full of sugar but something enriched with stuff like calcium which I think I must be needing when I'm not eating fish or steak. The protein is more easily had later.

It might also be a cultural thing. Where for a lot of us, dinner, last meal in the day, is the heaviest, for the Chinese, for example, lunch is where you pig out.

I think one more factor that the nutritionists should put in their equation is that we tend to have stomachs that reject the 'when' we should eat 'what'. We are all individuals and I think we can extend that same right to our stomachs.

Absolutely. The old saying goes "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a duke and dinner like a pauper". If you eat the bulk of your calories in the morning you will be burning them all day. (It is however, a very difficult thing to do in practice). Most people feel more comfortable eating 5/6 small meals a day of more or less equal calorific value.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It helps you through your day. Eat a healthy lunch and again eat a healthy dinner. Don't over eat...of course...but no you're thinking wrong.

I agree, so we would see less obesity problems in the world.
Most people rush out of the door in the morning to go to work and so, they don't have time to sit down and eat a big meal. At dinner time, work is over, so people have the whole night to indulge.

2 Reasons I would say yes, one is if you work nights, because you will be working when everyone is sleeping etc. the second is if you are better eating light in the evening vs the day.

actually no its dangerous. if you eat several small meals during the day and a sensible dinner you will be fine. your body needs the heavier foods at night because you sleep. have dinner before 8pm ans go for a walk.
