I think before is right to share a breakfast with your family with a good breath. And after is right too to have clean teeth for the day.

I agree with you, I always brush before and after and encourage my kids to do so also.

Well, I don't share breakfast with my family (and besides, as soon as you start eating, there goes that fresh clean breath), but if I eat my bowl of cereal at home, after, if I wait until I go to work to eat then before I go to work.

You should swish with mouthwash when you get up and then eat your breakfast. AFTER you eat breakfast then brush your teeth. There is no need to brusyh before breakfast as you brushed before you went to bed and haven't eaten anything. Just rinse with mouthwash first thing in the morning.

I live alone, so there is no consideration of my breath for others. But I brush my teeth immediately upon getting up, to clean out the scum that develops overnight. Why "eat" it?

I ONLY brush before sleep (sometimes during the day). I use mouth wash after breakfast and it is very important to use dental floss! It is more important to use dental floss than brushing more than once pr day!!!

That is a very good habit. Still better if you do it at each time- breakfast, lunch and dinner.
