No I didn't sorry.
You are right, Christians shouldn't use hijacked holidays to celebrate christ's life. It would be the same as celebrating jesus' turning water into wine miracle on the fourth of July

It does have it's roots in paganism. The painted eggs, the rabbit. What do these have to do with Jesus dieing and being resurrected? Nothing at all. They have to do with fertility and spring. Can people reflect on Jesus resurrection without having painted eggs and bunny rabbits? Has our society become what 2 Tim 3: 4 & 5 states: "lovers of pleasure, rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion, but proving false to its power."
2 Cor. 6 14- 17 says "Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever?....'Therefore get out from among them, and separate yourselves', says Jehovah, and 'quit touching the unclean thing.'"
The Encyclopoedia Britannica comments: "There is no indication of the observance of the Easter festival in the New Testament, or in the writings of the apostolic Fathers. Th sanctity of special times was an idea absent from the minds of the first Christians." (1910), Vol. VIII, p. 828
The Catholic Encyclopedia tells us: "A great many pagan customs, celebrating the return of spring, gravitated to Easter. The egg is the emblem of the germinating life of early spring....The rabbit is a pagan symbol and has always been an emblem of fertility." (1913), Vol. V, p. 227
The Two Babylons, By Alexander Hislop "What means the term Easter itself? It is not a Christian name. It bears its Chaldean origin on its very forehead. East is nothing else than Astarte, on the the titles of Beltis, the queen of heaven, whos name , ...as found by Layard on the Assyrian monuments, is Ishtar...Such is the history of Easter. The popular observances that still attend the period of its celebration amply confirm the testimony of history as to its Babylonian character. The hot cross buns of Good Friday, and the dyed eggs of Pasch or Easter Sunday, figured in the Chaldean rites just as they do now." pp 103, 107, 108
Jeremiah 7: 18 "The sons are picking up sticks of wood, and the farthers are lighting the fire, and the wives are kneading flour dough in order to make sacrificial cakes to the 'queen of the heavens'; and there is a pouring out of drink offerings to other gods for the purpose of offending me."
If it offended God back in Jeremiah's day. Would it not be offensive to him today as well.

I think most Christians don't care that they are celebrating pseudo pagan holidays. The simple fact is, that the holidays were introduced into Christianity as a way to get converts without REALLY converting them. Getting the converts to SAY they were Christian, while still celebrating their other religion's holidays.
It's all about numbers....not the actual worship.

Just like Christmas, the Easter traditions were adopted from Pagans. So what? Unless you're worshipping a bunny or a chocolate egg, why get so worked up? Most holidays are commerialized and directly toward children. Get over it!
I actually LOVE it when people go on a rant and can't spell simple words. Are you that PO'ed that you can't hit spell check? It's OBVIOUS genius. At least have all your eggs in one basket (uh oh Pagan reference!!!) before you go on a rampage.

People rarely read our whole question. There are such things as"trigger" words, that set people off!
Humans also go to extremes. Easter is not completely pagan. However it has pagan symbology in it.
The "egg" is a fertility symbol.
And we all know what bunnies do!
Real sophisticated these pagans. Like we have to do magic to make babies, right?
I have noticed that Halloween, the day all the spirits are supposed to be drawn to Earth. Is
opposite, (6 months later), of the time of Christ's Ascension, when His spirit left this World!

I do not celebrate easter the way the pagans did, or are doing, I celebrate easter as the day my Lord was raised from death and into life. I do not worship in the way of pagans, but in the way of a follower of Christ. However, I can see your point that we, that is all who follow the true God, the God of creation, should not allow pagan traditions to enter into the way of the Lord.

I agree totally Mark
Easter is actually a celebration of the goddess Astarte. But then most of our holidays have a basis in paganism. People came into the Church and brought their customs with them

I know this may come a shock to you but God wishes that we worship him everyday and I don't think he cares one way or the other what the reason is. Btw, he doesn't care much about whether we celebrate it with the Easter bunny and colored eggs either. WWJD?; have fun with the bunny idea and eat a lot of brightly, colored eggs. After all, brightly colored eggs do taste better than the regular ones.

Yes many elements of easter have been co-opted from pagan tradition. But I don't think anyone who hides eggs or eats a chocolate bunny is doing so in a worshipful attitude. The general attitude is 'won't this be fun for the kids'
Now stop making us Christians look like freaking weridos!

God can be glorified on Easter just as he could the day those two kids went on a shooting rampage at Columbine Highschool. What satan meant for evil, God used for His glory. We need to be glorifying God and exalting Him EVERY day. When we are obedient and do this, He will reveal Himself to this world NO MATTER what DAY it is.
Psa 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
