I have been working out for almost two months now. Lifting weights and running. I actually just started to run about two weeks ago. I can see a little difference but i do not feel like i am getting into shape fast enough. I have some body fat and want to get rid of it. It does not seem like I am getting into shape fast enough. How long does it take to notice a significant difference? I have been eating better too, and drinking a lot of water.

Since you just started adding cardio to your workout, now is the time in which you should see results. Its the combination of weights and cardio that is going to make a difference. You probably have been building muscle this whole time, but until you raise your heartrate by doing cardio you are not as likely to see results in the fat loss.

In addition--your body needs the cardio to take the acid out of your muscles that builds up after lifting weights. Also, the more muscle mass you have the more calories you will burn.

Keep up with both! The results will come!

There's many variables. Particularly exactly what and how much you're eating. Another thing to consider is that muscle is built under fat, so you may be losing fat and building muscle, and unfortunately looking exactly the same because of it.

Another thing to consider is body type. There are Ectomorphs, which are thin and non-muscular, Endomorphs, which are round and typically pudgey, and Mesomorphs, which are well developed muscularly, and gain muscle quick and easily. If you're not a mesomorph, you WILL have a LOT more trouble getting to a point that you may find satisfactory, and it will take much more time.

But really, after two months, if your diet is really solid, your body should be shaping up already. I would start there, personally. Count every calorie taken in, and make sure you aren't ingesting any artificial sugar at all, and that you're completely cutting out greasy foods.

Good for you! Patience is a virtue, it will probably take another month but you will get there. Do something nice for yourself in the meantime - little rewards help along the way. Keep up the good work!
