I try....
some days I don't succeed, some days I do....
but most of all, I try to teach my kids to do random acts of kindness (and not so random ones) and those are the days that I want to be remembered for. Paying for a stranger's meal at micky D's, playing secret santa at christmastime, being involved in toys for tots.

Well what do you consider meaningful. I've been told that nothing that I do matters anyway because it's not for god...or whatever.
I do coach two youth hockey teams though 6 months of the year. I volunteer at homeless shelters, and youth centers.
I may not make a big difference in the world, but at least I'll die knowing that I helped someone feel like they mattered and they were worth someones time.

I try to do them continually.
I've got a nice chunk of change in mexico helping my dad buy building materials for a clinic in a mountian village right now. Those people dont enjoy the comforts we do. I think it is meaningful to help less fortunate people.
Also having a positive influence on the people around you is meaningful. If some one needs comfort and you can help offer a hand. write a note, give a small gift, or words of encouragement. (I'll be sending a note later today)
Taking good care of your children and helping them grow in goodness helps them and society as a whole. We cook and eat together as much as we can. We play soccer in the yard, we invent bird traps, and stayed up late last night to see the trash invading racoon together. Family is important, you give them love and purpose they do the same for you.
Tonight, I'll be taking care of and doing crafts with children and teaching them about the love of God that inspires the love on man.

Enough. But if you tell them--you don't get the same blessing, as doing it without noone's knowing.
You know what I mean? I don't do it for a feather in my hat. I do it because it makes me feel WONDERFUL!
I've thought of the 'What am I going to leave behind' thing.
I THINK it's going to be my writing. I take notes at church from the preacher, I take notes at Joyce Meyer conferences, I take notes WATCHING Joyce Meyer, I write very spiritual poetry that could be turned into songs with music.
Now, at my age, I am writing BIGGER, so I can read it again as I get older. hehehehehe

the 'meaningful deeds' that mean most to me are the ones that affect those immediately around me, hoping that they will catch on to those around them, etc.
This is how i want to be remembered: that i was a good son, i was a sweet brother, an invaluable friend, a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a decent human being.

I live my life trying to do the next right thing. Do good things and good things happen to you. I try to make a difference by the way I live my life. Want to be remembered as a good person.

I care for two of my grands a lot and the time you spend teaching a child is something that will benefit the world for generations.
