In 2001 I fractured my spine, shattered my ankles, and had a row of wrist bones removed. I have six bolts holding my back together. Everyday is pain for me. I refrained from asking for pain pills because I was worried of the long term side effects such as sitting in a nursing home at 80, choking on my own flim. Also, it has been hard to get around, so I didn't apply much effort. Also, 2 yrs ago, I needed them and I was rejected because I could bend down and touch my toes. Also, I thought hormones would be cool, cuz I saw the previews to the next Malcom in the Middle, and they seemed to help his physique and other things.

The hormone pills are good only if you're needing them, otherwise they'll do you no good, might just make you violent.

As for pain medication, ask your doctor about botox. It works as a muscle relaxed but it can also be used to treat chronic pain depending on what's causing it and where. But if it's where you had your spine bolted and there's no muscle there that needs to move, then it may be feesible. It'll work in the area for a long period(months I think), though you'll have to be extra careful to not strain because the pain is still there, your nerves are just numb.

I'm not sure if this is normally done, but wouldn't hurt to ask.

You just need to go to your doctor and seek pain control. With the medical problems that you listed, they would probably be ok with you taking something regularly-- though probably not vicodin, since it is so hard on the liver. Hormones: It's more complicated than you think, or than a TV show would tell you. If you take testosterone, your risk for prostate cancer goes way up. I think if your pain were controled, you would move around more, and get better energy and tone without risking cancer!

You will only be rejected after your doctor makes a determination. If you are still in pain request to be sent to a pain specialist or seek another opinion. As for the hormones do not take them unless prescribed to treat a specific condition. If you do you will be playing with fire.

If you genuinely need pain medication your doctor will prescribe it, so just ask him/her. Doctors don't prescribe hormones (or any medication) just to improve people's physique or because a patient considers them "pretty cool" and I'm pretty sure you already know that. If you want to improve your body and help overcome pain go for physiotherapy and pain management therapy, both MUCH healthier options than pills.
