fat stores energy, the law of conservation of matter states that matter is neither gained or lost, it only changes forms... what happens is the fat is broken down (digested) by the body and burned as energy. some of that energy will be turned into muscle, but the byproducts of the physical solid of the fat will go the way of all other food that you get rid of... down the "drain"

It gets oxidized (aerobic lipolysis) in the krebs cycle which takes place in the mitochondria. The stored energy is used to turn ADP back into usable energy ATP (phosphorylation) while some of the energy gets wasted as heat. It also leaves the byproducts of water and carbon dioxide which gets exhaled. The aerobic lipolysis coupled with the phosphorylation is called oxidative phosphorylation. Here is a link with more detailed info.

P.S. Although some gets turned into ketones during low carb diets, most of the ketones are produced from amino acids which are catabolized from muscle tissue.

It is used up by your body, sweated out and some is used for energy.. Basically your "fat cells" don't realy go anywhere... the stuff inside of them releases into your body to be distributed as needed and so on.... link below gives a more in depth explination

So far as I understand, they're like your body's fridge, they store the food you eat and then when your body's hungry, it goes to that fridge.

So your muscles burn it for energy, same with your organs, then the byproducts of that use get secreted, through sweat to a small degree, but I think mostly through peeing.

It's like fuel going into a power plant, it gets used, the byproducts come out, your body cleans them, so it should be in your urine.

When people say you "burn" the fat...it's actually quite literal. Fat is our body's way of storing up energy for future use. So when you exercise, your body metabolizes the fat into energy. Basically it's when your body transforms one glucose quantity into 2 piruvate quantities (cellular metabolism) this is where heat is released. So in essence, your fat (dormant energy) is transformed into heat (active energy by-product) ergo sweating a lot when you exercise.

The stored energy is burned for cellular metabolism and the fat cells shrink in size.
