Could it be that the uniforms aren't "plain"?

This was obviously tongue in cheek. When was the last time you saw a sporting event with someone dressed in the 17th century garb the Amish wear? Sheesh.

It's the beard - gets in the way of the face guard.

No, Amish and Mennonites are not pacifists - Non-resistance (really different than pacifism) is church doctrine. And some brethren do go beyond grade 8...however, grade 8 in most Amish schools is way more advanced than English high schools.

How many non-Amish 8th graders do you know who are fluently trilingual? (and many also know Koine Greek and Hebrew- which makes five languages. And how many of them can read Shakespearean English and then give you a well-thought out discourse on what was read (you see, the King James Bible and Shakespeare were written at the same time - same English)

Sports are good exercise, but professional sports are...worldly to say the least. But at most gatherings you will see youth (and children,, and some of the married folk) playing volleyball, soccer, baseball, basketball, four square, etc.

that isn't a serious question is it? I live right outside of Lancaster PA with a huge Amish population, they are cut off from society, there is no football teams for them, they are doing work and living there lives, maybe you confuse them with mennonites (sorry about the butchered spelling) who live next to society, enjoy modern things but are strictly plain in appearence along with other differences. Do more reserch on cultures.

little amish boys will go out in the yard and play football or rough around but they do not attend school past the 8th grade. ( No highschool)

no because they are doing actual work. they do not go to school past eighth grade and work on the farm helping their community and family.

also, they are pacifst and football isn't exactly what i would call a passive sport.

They probably see that sport the same way I do...a bunch of brainless idiots, throwing a ball, banging their empty heads together, and running on a field.
