Add 1 package of dry pudding mix to your cake mix. You can add the same flavor, such as chocolate with chocolate, or mix it up, there isnt much of a flavor change just a small hint sometime. I mostly just use vanilla in everything though. It makes them so moist and they stay that way.
Here is an awesome cake recipe you might like:
1 yellow cake mix
1 small pkg vanilla pudding mix
1/2 cup oil or applesauce
1/2 cup water
3 eggs
1 pkgs mini chocolate chips
2 TBS grated german chocolate
Mix all together and put in a bundt pan. Cook at 350 for 1 hour. When done turn it onto a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar and another 2TBS of grated german chocolate.

Ever made a Jello Cake? It's awesome, use a yellow cake mix, (this will work for cupcakes too! but grease your cup cake pan don't use the little papers) buy the mix with pudding already in it and make it as directed, let the cup cakes cool completely then take a fork and poke holes in them, I would stab each one with the fork about 6 or 7 times spreading out where you stab them, take your favorite flavor of jello, I like any kind that's red, usually strawberry and mix the jello as directed then pour the liquid over the cupcakes so it seeps into the holes and put them into the refrigerator to mold, at least a couple of hours. Once the jello has set you can frost them, for frosting get a package of dream whip and a package of french vanilla instant pudding, make the dream whip as directed then mix in the package of pudding powder, you can use dye to color it any color you want. If you want to serve the cupcakes in the litte papers take them out of the pan, put it into the little paper thing and then frost the cupcake and put on a plate for serving. This recipe is meant for cake, but I don't see why it won't work. You can do an online search for "Jello Cake" to see the recipe. These stay VERY moist and cool and delicious! People will rave I promise you! Try it and you will like it!

tle more oil than is called for, applesauce in addition to the oil or mayonnaise. (Real Mayonnaise, not Miracle Whip salad dressing.)
Another good tip that my family loves is I add a couple of mashed bananas to vanilla or yellow cake mixes along with all the called for ingredients. Makes a super moist cake or cupcakes.

What I do with my cupcake mix, is I just simply add more water. At first, add a little, but if it still isn't moist enough, add more. Hope they turn out great.

Other people mentioned applesauce already, and I've also heard of mayonnaise or pureed beets (for chocolate cake) being "secret ingredients" for moist cake. A Food Network chef mentioned that the softest, moistest cakes actually come out of a box mix, because they use those wierd ingredients that can't be duplicated at home. I think I've noticed that, myself.

Believe it or not, if you add one table spoon of miracle whip salad dressing while you are mixing everthing, your cupcakes will turn out moist and much tastier.Just keep the secret to your self.

Pudding, Mayonnaise, Applesauce, an extra Egg, half a cup vegetable oil/melted butter. Just steer clear of Olive oil in this case, it has a strong flavor and could ruin the cupcakes. Unless you wanted olive-cupcakes! Good luck, baking is fun!
