it has to be obvious to them that even they dont believe what they preach, so how do the fundies still continue to believe? maybe i could understand if this sort of thing happened only once or rarely, but guys like haggard are legion. so what gives here? are fundies just dumb or what?

Ah, you didn't hear? Haggard has been cured of his Homosexuality (yeah right). The Holy Spirit delivered him (suuuure it did).
At least, this is what his wife and close friends were saying after he was kicked out of the church he started... which I thought was funny. But even some within that church claimed that it wasn't Haggards fault, it was Satan's fault for attacking a Man of God.
They just cover up their own nonsense with their Religion by saying "God made it better... but for the rest of you, off to hell you go". They will not take off the blinders long enough to see just how hypocritical they really are.

Absolutely nothing happens. Just like nothing happened with the whole Jimmy Swaggart - hooker ordeal. These people are blinded by their unreasonable faith. They will see it as a sign from God somehow or someway that people need to realize what kind of pressures these "evangelists" face...blah, blah, yakety yak and so forth and "forgive their trespasses" and not "cast the first stone" and all that garbage. The funny thing is, they are the FIRST to be unforgiving and first to cast the first stone to anyone non-christian, non-hetero or anyone else that doesn't follow their "version" of the "truth". Whoever coined the term "Talibangelists" had it right. It has been my personal observation that the less fortunate the person, the more they rely on faith - which is why is pisses me off so much that the talibangelists get away with ripping off the poor and desperate as they feel they have nowhere else to turn but to hocus pocus whether it's produced by christian charlatans, muslim clerics, voodoo priests, or hari krishnas. It all amounts to the same.

Actually a lot of us "fundies" don't subscribe to the superchurch pastor teachings. Instead, we prefer the simplicity of a small church where the pastor is real. We realize that there are going to be wolves in sheep's clothing (The Bible warned us about that). Our faith teaches us forgiveness and compassion. We realize that certain ministers fall and fail. Hopefully they repent and turn their lives around.

The Devil has his counterfeits, which you, being ignorant of the Scriptures, mistake for the real thing.
As a 'fundie', my question to you is:
What happens to scoffers/doubters of the Word of God, if they die without repentance? (changing their mind/having God change their heart).
They go to hell, along with Satan, who is the one blinding your mind and heart. [lest you say I desire that you go there, consider the warning, and the time I'm investing in giving this answer.]
