What I would do is go to or call the Nigerian Embassy in New York City. Also the U.S. Immigration Dept.in your state. They would know what documents and what procedures you need to follow for you to marry this Nigerian man. You did not say whether you are going to Nigeria to marry him or you want him to come to the U.S. Either way, you have to know what documents you both need to marry and for it to be a legal marriage. Why not ask at the registry office or some place where you get married in America, its different over here in England i think.
Ask some one who knows, we have a place called cab Citizens advice and they can tell you every thin you need to know, hope you have one in America.

First of all, Does he have residency in the US? If so, you should have few problems. If not, and he wants to get residency or citizenship... you will need to file paperwork with the US Department of State. I also recommend that you save anything that you can that proves that you have been a relationship(IE. photos, phone records, etc.), because you may need them. I hope this helps.

You can marry anyone you want. This is America. I think you both have to be in America. I don't know about other countries

Depending on if he is in a tribe or not... if he isnt, then there is nothing to worry about. But, maybe you should ask him or his parents... Congrats though.
