Biloxi Miss?

If so..
I went there about 6 months ago. I was shocked at how devestated it still was a year after Katrina. I am sure it is better now, but just remember that it is not the city you remember and that it is still healing.
Many major buildings, historical homes, landmarks and msueums have been destroyed or irreversibly damaged. There are piles of trash on the side of the road, and becuase of the wetness there has been an increase in mosquitos and other bugs.
Many still live in trailers, and are not done rebuilding or obtaining new homes.
However the communities have really come together and it is inspiring to see people working together and forming a strong community to rebuild their neighborhood.
When I went there I was shocked and felt paralyzed. I was there in a week and only helped one person rebuild his home. I thought that wasn't a lot, but when I left and I saw how much closer his house was to inhabitatable I felt proud and accomplished.
I woudl recommend going there with an open midn adn heart becuase the old biloxi is still visible and a new one is rising.

Depends on what you are looking for. We have 10 casinos open on the coast, with more coming. Housing is at a premium. Lots of restaurants are open. The Water Park is open, but the Marine Aquarium was destroyed. There are beaches open but the water still need to be cleaned up. Several theaters have reopened. Housing is at a premium. We are slowing rebuilding.

There are some casinos and restaurants open. The beaches are amazingly clean. It's still quite bare, but if you're there to gamble you should be alright. Gulfport has a lot of places to shop and eat at, as well as a water park (not too good from what my friends say, but whatever).
