my boyfriend of almost 2 years has been studying in another country for almost 6 months and he is back in another three. we have stayed together throughout this. we knew it would be difficult but there has never been any doubt in my mind that he is worth the wait. there have been difficult times alont the way but we've always managed to talk things through and we are both still very much in love. We'd always planned on living together and we've organised a flat which we move into in july. He's now told me that he wants to come back to the UK for a year and then go back abroad for another three years to work. He says he doesn't want to break up and that we can make the most of next year together but the year after when he goes we'll ultimately have to split up for good. I feel I've been very patient so far but if i agree to stay with him next year am i setting myself up for heart break if i don't end it now?

I can't move with him as he'd be working for a University and it's something he'd have to do on his own even though it's not compulsary :( otherwise i'd up and leave now

Only you can answer this one.Do you love him? enough to wait.Is he worth it?Do you know that this man is who you want to be with for a lifetime? If you answered no to either of those questions then maybe you should talk to him and tell him that you are not sure this is what you want, separate while he's away see what happens if you two love each other he will come back to you and you will be waiting for him. It's like the song goes if you love someone set them free if they come back they are yours if they don't they never were yours.

If he is wanting to split up with you when he leaves than I would have to say yes. Now, it wouldn't be so bad to stay with him for that year, if that's what you want, but you have to know that it is with the intention of ultimately breaking up. That is a hard choice, and you are going to have to think long and hard about this.

Three years is a long time to be apart - how often, or is he, planning on coming back to see you? Can you go and visit him? Is there any possiblity of you going with him?
If you love each other, I think you can make it work, but it's up to you.

Don't you think it's funny that he hasn't invited you along? If he loved you that much, he'd want you to be with him. He obviously only cares about himself and his career. And why break up with you now when he can have a year of convenient sex?
End it now.

don't waste your time on him. If he doesn't want to make a commitment now then he never will. Have you ever thought about moving over to him if he means that much to you ?

girl if he wants to break up with you for good next year then prepare yourself before he has a chance to end it, that way it won't hurt as much.

what the hell. 2 years down the drain? you two must have not been close enough to know how to work out your problems.

You need to end that now. You will just be setting yourself up for heartbreak. I feel he is being selfish also.

I think that you two are crazzy about eachother. To end this would be a mistake in my opinion.
