It is always like 20-30 degrees lower then the outside temp actually is, just started happening, worked fine before.

could be the sending unit...$15 bucks at your local parts store

Sometimes this happens after it is serviced. Does the compass tell the wrong direction as well. In your owners manual it will tell you the steps you need to go through to reset the computer that displays this information. My 2001 F-150 did the same thing and it bothered me pretty badly

When you pull into your drive way with the engine running. Touch the top radiator hose. If it's too hot to put your hand around it the electoral temperature sending unit needs replacing. If the hoses are tepid warm the thermostat needs to be replaced. Good Luck.
