An analogy to take as you will, borrowed from that cinematic masterpiece, Rocky...

After promising himself that he would go all the way and give it all he had, should the young boxer last the distance of the fight at all costs, no matter what pain or damage he receives, no matter how hard tiredness is burning his lungs and blood is stinging his eyes, even though he knows winning is impossible; or should he admit defeat and leave with dignity?

I only this scenario as a broad analogy to put my question in to simple terms- apply it to life at large, if you will.

What do you think?

I would chose blind tenacity over moderation as long as the goal was an admirable and honorable one (good).

Otherwise, all things in moderation.

Persistence is paramount.

It's more about counting the cost before proceeding rather than adopting an attitude of tenacity at any cost. The bail-out criteria should be considered up front.

i think it is best to be courageous right to the end, and not give up. (unless it involves trying to change someones mind to go with you or something, then you have to know when to walk away before you look desperate!!)
but if you believe in something then you should do it wholeheartedly!
however, i kind of thought Rocky should quit while he still had some teeth (!!)

A balance between the two is best. A dedication to a goal, but the wisdom to realize that it may just never happen

I think the ability to know when to stop is the more admirable quality.
Pushing yourself beyond boundaries doesn't do anyone any good.

Well, you could put all your energy into fighting battles you can't win, or you can withdraw and win other battles. Seems sensible to me to pull out when you don't have a chance.
