If you have 2 jobs, you need to complete the worksheet on page 2 of Form W-4 to calculate the additional amount of tax to be withheld from your pay.

You claim one person, or don't claim any. But you can ask payroll at your job to take out additional money for taxes. For instance, you can ask them to take an additional $100 each pay or each month, the amount is up to you. What might be better for you, though, is to set up a savings account and save that extra money yourself throughout the year. At least then you'd be getting the interest, and the money would be there when you need to pay.

I'm thinking you'd have to be careful about paying a penalty for underpaying your taxes throughout the year. That's what our city does....lots of penalties if we underestimate how much we will owe at the end of the year and don't pay enough estimated taxes.

Since you are single with no children, you can only claim yourself on your W4, unless you have other family members or friends staying with you, who you can claim as your dependants, making your status change from single to head of household, thereby saving you more money in tax payments at the end of the day.
Good luck.

768.

If you get a letter from the IRS, apologize, and put down "1" instead.
